Improved routes: now with descriptions and notes!

May 21st, 2009 — 4:34pm

We’ve made some changes to the routes so now you can add a description to each route, explain what is that route about and your thoughts about it.

You can also add notes to each place, it doesn’t matter if you posted it or not, if they are in your route you can add a note with things you want to add or somethings you want to remember about that place!

Routes are not only for planning, you can also give a different view of your city making a route to follow.

Some people are creating wonderful routes. Check them out!

Local markets around the world

Day boat trip on the Thames

One day at the heart of Shibuya Ward

to remember

Ilha de Moçambique by fer

May 4th, 2009 — 7:29am

Fer is a travel guide who has been traveling around the world for the last 20 years.
He often goes to Tanzania and Mozambique in the summer, and to places like Libya and Argelia in the winter. Check out fer profile!

What do you do on a really warm and sunny day in Ilha de Moçambique?

The island offers many warm weather options with easy land access.

Take a relaxing stroll around the island; it’s small in size but with many treasures to discover. From the Indian architectural influence remains to the last Portuguese occupation.

And on a raining day?

In August and September rain is rare. But if it’s raining you could go to visit the museums or go near the fish market to talk with the local people.

Macuti, the traditional area where most of the local people live, is really lively.

What is the best way to get around in the town?

The best way to get around is walking. You can ask a local to give you a tour – they will show you the entire island for a very small amount of money.

Favourite place?

The Macuti area, which is full of life from early afternoon into the night.

What shouldn’t be missed on someone’s first visit to Ilha?

A walk to the Fort Sao Sebastiao and strolling the sea coast end to end.

Ilha best club?

A wonderful dinner at the Reliquias restaurant and some drinks and dancing on the Watelefou, behind the Hotel Escondidinho.

What’s the best plan for a Sunday morning in Ilha?

If the wind and the sea cooperate, rent a dhow or a sailboat and go to Goa Island, Cabeceira Grande, Carrusca and Chocas Mar. You can get there as well by land (except the Goa Island, of course).
