What do you do on a really warm and sunny day in New York?
I am never discouraged by weather although summer can be hard in NYC. I love the sadness of Coney Island, so take the train and like to spend the entire day sunbathing, looking at the sea and taking pictures of that amazing and unique place. My advice: better in weekdays. Weekends are too crowded, although great for Weegee-like pictures.

And on a raining day?
Forget your umbrella and think about visiting these sort of small museums that always skip like The Museum at FIT and the Neue Galerie. The rest of the time: shop till drop. It is a good moment to buy kitchen appliances and cotton sheets in Bed Bath and Beyond, cookies and Advil in Duane Reade and plastic boxes in The Container Store.
What is the best way to get around in the town?
Yellow cabs are part of my own fiction so I love to raise my hand in the middle of the street and fight to get one. Train is, of course, the fastest option. It is also the dirtiest and noisiest one. But my favourite way to get around is definitely by foot. Tiring but inspiring.
Favourite place?
It is quite predictable: I love Brooklyn Bridge. I love bridges everywhere but this one has it all: it is powerful, solid and works as a link between two completely different worlds: Manhattan and Brooklyn. I also adore Grand Central Station, a place that epitomizes the classical American luxury.
What shouldn’t be missed on someone’s first visit to New York?
It sounds as a common place but, for me, classical buildings as Woolworth and Seagram are very inspiring. And again, the Brooklyn Bridge tells a lot about the city.
New York best club?
I am not a party animal
and besides it is easy to provide an outdated tip. City is constantly evolving. However, Socialista and Gold Bar are supposed to be fun and cool. I rather go to have dinner and then for a drink to any quirky place as Decibel.
What’s the best plan for a Sunday morning in New York?
To be honest, my best plan for a Sunday morning in NY is not in NY. I like to escape from the city and go to one delicious place: Dia Beacon. Grab a train at Grand Central and after one hour of scenic ride you will reach this cute village with one of the most incredible museums I have ever seen.
