The Sopranos Location Tour

New Jersey is not one of those places that people have in mind for their next trip. At plain sight it doesn’t have anything to catch travellers’ attention… until now.

Leaving Manhattan through the Lincoln Tunnel you’ll get to the state that served HBO as a huge filming set for its acclaimed successful drama The Sopranos. Most interior scenes in the series were filmed at a Silvercup Studios, located in New York’s neighbourhood Queens.

The first logical stop for the tour would be Tony Soprano’s home. Official tours buses don’t take you there because the house is part of a gated community so if you want to try see it; you’ll have to get a car to drive to North Caldwell.

Now that where’re here, let’s go to Paterson. No one expects to find such a beautiful place like this in the middle of nowhere. Fern River crosses this city, forming amazing waterfalls in the Mary Ellen Kramer Park. These waterfalls were the scenario for Mikey Palmice to get Rusty Irish pay for his mistakes in the first season of the show.

Between these two locations, in Lodi, you’ll find Bada Bing Strip club. This Soprano’s frequently visited night club really exists under the name of Satin Dolls. Some of the girls that appeared on the show were, and are, actual working stripers there. Also, Satin Dolls back alley served once as a location for some Cifaretto’s “arrangements”.

Let’s come back closer to Jersey City and make a stop at North Arlington, where you’ll find Pizzaland. This Italian restaurant is one of the smallest in the state but has become much more famous since its appearance in The Soprano’s opening credits.

A little bit in the south, there’s Kearny, which holds the largest number of the show’s locations. The most remarkable one is Satriale’s Pork Store. Gualtieri and Soprano crews regularly hang out at Satriale’s. Right next to this location there is an Irish bar where cast and crew members used to take some drinks. At Kearny Avenue you’ll also find Sorpano’s family church, Richie Aprile’s apartment, some alleys used for pure mob scenes and Artie Bucco’s house.

Already at Jersey City you’ll find the Skyway Diner, where Moltisanti got shot at the second season and also the Soprano’s family cemetery.

What a better way to finish this guide than have some smooch at Holsten’s Ice Cream restaurant, where the last scene of The Sopranos takes place. Now the table where they were supposed to be seated in has a badge to remember it.

    Hi,
you say the tour visits Artie Bucco’s house? Do you remember where it was? In the show it’s located on number 104, but 104 Kearny Ave is not his house. Is it near there?
    Thanks!
