Pick of the week: Mtv – 電影館

The MTVs are one of the most interesting places I found in Taipei. I don’t know if there is something similar in other countries, but I’ve never seen them before I came here. It’s something like a “video-club meets mini-cinema” where you can rent the latest DVD releases or the immortal classic to watch them “in situ”, in rooms for 2, 4 or 12 people with real cinema screens.

The price is really good, like a normal video rental shop, and you can order a good variety of food and drinks.

    I happened to stumble upon your website via Facebook, I love all that you have done, keep it up. Makes me miss Taiwan so much! On a side note – MTVs were rife back in the 80s in Taiwan (especially Taipei) – comparable to current day KTV joints – but many had to be closed down due to …let’s just say “indecent behavior” of all realms :P Such a shame because I really enjoy going to MTVs!
