Pick Of The Week: Azadi Tower, Iran

Built in 1971, before the Islamic Revolution, the Azadi tower in Tehran was known as the Shahyad tower . Though the history of Tehran stretches back more than 2,300 years, the Shahyad Towr has managed to become the symbol of Iran’s capitol city in just a few decades.

The arch rises from Azadi Square mirroring the Elburz mountain range. It is a 148 foot tall masterpiece of cut marble that marks the entrance to this historic city.

When you get up close to it, it nearly takes your breath away !!
