Paris is a shockingly large city. There are many fine vantage points from which to view the panorama, including the Palais de Tokyo, Sacré Coeur, the Eiffel Tower, or the bell towers of Notre Dame. As beautiful as all these are, some people like to point out that underneath your feet is just as beautiful, that being the catacombs.

Unlike the many lavish museums such as Petite Museum or the stunning Pere Lachaise Cemetry the entrance to the catacombs is a simple black door in a small building that you could easily miss if you blinked while walking by it.

As different as it may its also a integral part of the culture and the long history of Paris, just another element to experience.
