Pick of the week: Chocolate by mueller
This is not a regular chocolate store. They sell pieces of chocolate in all forms and size you can imagine. They have animals, professions, buildings, transports, patriotic… But the best sellers are the body parts.

People seem to rely on Muller’s chocolate for they gifts… apart from the variety, they do personalized chocolates! So you can just ask for candy in the size of Angelina Jolie if that’s what your boyfriend likes
Oh, and.. it’s delicious

Adriii finaly got the time to do her long-time expected train-trip through the north-east coast of the United States… and she is telling us about her journey!
So, after eating the most amazing hamburgers ever, we had our strength back so it was time to keeeep walking. There’s one thing that all American cities I’ve been to have in common, no matter their size or population: the churches. Every 15 or 20 minutes we founded a church. It’s so nice because some of them are really beautiful. One curious thing it’s that the most unique and original ones are always the ones from Protestant congregations. Don’t ask me why.
So, we just walked towards the river and reached the Train Station. When we arrived we were so tired that we didn’t realize that even this one is an historic building. After walking for a while at the university area, we decided to go to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. There we had lots of things to do. It was a shame not to have time to visit the Museum of Natural History, but we did a short visit to the Public Library and the Rodin Museum. It’s a nice replica of the original one in France. I loved the “Hell Gates” statue both times
We passed by the Archeology Museum and reached the Museum of Art. This is a place no one should miss. It was too late to go inside (American public places close too soon!) but the views from the top of the stairs are great. Also, those are the “Rocky” stairs and it was funny to see so many people training there. Also there are the fountain and the Rocky Statue.
Looking for the Rocky Statue we went to the back side of the Museum. We didn’t expect to find that great place! There’s a beautiful park hidden there called the Water Works. It’s where the Fairmount Park born and the Schuylkill River forms a big lake. In the shore of the lake, there are this Victorian Houses that are lightened up by night, giving you the most pretty romantic atmosphere of Philly.
We can’t afford a dinner at the Boathouse Row so it’s time to go to the grocery store we saw near the bus station and go back to the hostel. We didn’t want to miss the curfew.
What a great, complete day! We’ll miss you Philly!

I left you in the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. After taking some pictures we came back to the Philly side of the bridge and discovered the Benjamin Franklin Park –yep, they’re everything but original…-. It could be any park except for the minigolf you can find there. It’s so funny because each hole is dedicated to one touristic place of the city and it’s cheap to play if you have time.
But we just have one day to visit the city so we continue walking from there, through Chinatown –yeah, it seems to be one of them in every major city- to the Reading Terminal Market. This is one of those places you found unintentionally but becomes one of your most recommended places. Lots of foods, stands, people, life… and the Chocolate by Mueller. Ohhh…. Saliva go away.
We could have stayed there forever but the City Hall was the next stop. This area is full of interesting places. After visiting the City Hall insides we discovered the Observation Deck. Do NOT miss it. Great views of the building insides from the elevator and great sight of the city from the Deck.
Then it was time to go to the Masonic Temple. Don’t miss this because it’s so unique and interesting. Each room has a different culture decoration. At this point you probably wonder when we’re going to eat! Yes, it was a long morning so we just started walking looking for a place to have lunch. During the searching, we found the LOVE Park. It’s a big, full of life park. I’m glad we found it. There’s a sign that tells you about the LOVE fountain being colored sometimes… what a shame we just saw the usual blue.
Also, we encounter The Murano. It’s a quite tall building so you kind of see it from every spot of the city, but we walked right next to it. It must be great living there… I can’t even imagine how much the rent for the apartment on the top is
Finally! We arrived to Devil’s Place. It may be sound a little too much but YES, I ate the best hamburger I’ve ever eaten. It’s a shame I didn’t take a picture of it like mi friend did… his was pretty big.
Two posts for just half a day! Philly it’s wonderfully tiring!

Adriii finaly got the time to do her long-time expected train-trip through the north-east coast of the United States… and she is telling us about her journey!
So, we found out how to get to downtown: we had to walk 10 minutes to the bus station and then do a 30 minutes ride to the National Mall. This would probably make you cross out the hostel we stayed from your list but I think it’s worth it: cheap, the place is so nice and 40 minutes is not that long, seriously.

The Independence Hall is one of the main attractions of the city so we went to the …… to get our tickets for the free ride. While we wait to our appointment date to came, we visit the Liberty Bell museum and, of course, and as a fan of the TV Show How I met Your Mother, I had to take a picture “licking” the Liberty Bell. The museum is very historically interesting and they have a “all Philly” souvenir store that has all memorabilia you can imagine of the city.

Our time to visit the Independence Hall came and it turned to be a very interesting fun tour. Our guide was very into doing the whole thing as a monologue or something like that so it was very didactic and entertaining.

After standing in the very same room where the declaration of independence was signed, we walked to the Unknown Soldier Park to visit the memorial and buy something to drink before we walk to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. New Jersey is at the other side but we just walked to the middle of the bridge to enjoy the views and take some pictures.

Long day this sixth day of our trip so you’ll know more in the next post next week

USA East Coast Photo Book, Day Five: New York to Philly!
Adriii finaly got the time to do her long-time expected train-trip through the north-east coast of the United States… and she is telling us about her journey!
We had to take the train to Philly today early in the afternoon so we decided to wake up early and walk the fifth avenue from the 31st street to the 59th. This avenue deserves its fame; it’s full of high-class stores like Tiffany’s or Prada. If you want to see Spartans-like man, go inside Abercrombie… they have that kind of guys helping you with your shopping but almost all the time they’re taking pictures with the costumers : P

Once in the 59th street, there’s the Apple Store, so we went inside to check our emails before going to the famous toy store F.A.O. Swartz. I’m kind of a toy lover so for me this store was amazing. They have areas for everything and the teddy bears area blew my mind xD I also loved the Lego and Harry Potter zones but the best thing about it it’s that they have the Big Piano Tom Hanks played on its movie “Big”. It’s great because you can play it! (Remember to put on your nice socks, by the way
)
So, it was about time to go to the station and we arrived there earlier than we thought so we decided to have lunch in the Dinner in front of Penn Station. Great choice! Big plates of tasty American food, so 90s typical atmosphere and we had a lot of leftovers for the train journey.

Two hours and a half later, we were in Philadelphia trying to find our way to de hostel. It seemed to be quite far so we took a cab. If you go there and to the same hostel, take a cab: it’s so far away.

I have to admit that the place is beautiful. The Hostelling international mansion is right in the middle of Fairmount Park, a really big green are with a lot of things to do. Downtown was too far away and we had a curfew at the hostel so we decided to take a walk through the park. It is certainly beautiful and it gives you a great skyline of the city.
It was a long day so it was time to eat some of the lunch leftovers and go to bed. Tomorrow we just had one single day to visit Philadelphia so it’s going to be a long tiring day.
